What We Do
We tackle all obstacles that hinder a child's safety, education, and learning through comprehensive support and sustainable initiatives. The Heart of Home Foundation is dedicated to transforming the lives of vulnerable families, particularly women and girls, through a holistic approach aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Education
We provide access to quality education and vocational training, empowering women and girls with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue their dreams.
Healthcare
Our healthcare initiatives prioritize the physical and mental well-being of families, offering essential services and education on health issues affecting women and children especially to our beneficiaries.
Community Projects & Infrastructural Development
Community projects and Infrastructural development thus aim to foster financial independence, improve livelihoods, and build sustainable economic systems at the grassroots level, while also ensuring access to clean water and proper sanitation facilities in rural communities to enhance health and hygiene standards.
Sustainable Agriculture & Gender Responsive in Agriculture
We support vulnerable families in growing their own food sustainably, while addressing nutrition, food security, and environmental sustainability, and empowering women and youth in agriculture with a strong focus on gender equality.
Emergency Relief and Crisis Response
In times of crisis, we respond quickly to deliver life-saving assistance and support to affected families, ensuring they are protected, cared for, and able to rebuild with dignity.
How do we Tackle Poverty?
At Heart of Home Foundation, we understand that poverty is more than just the absence of money, it is the absence of opportunity, access, and hope. To effectively tackle poverty in Sierra Leone, especially among vulnerable families and children, we are committed to a holistic, community-driven approach that focuses on long-term, sustainable solutions.
Invest in Education
We support out-of-school children by enrolling them in school, providing essential learning materials, and covering tuition fees. Through after-school tutoring and mentorship, we help students stay engaged and succeed academically. For older youth, we offer vocational and life skills training to improve their chances of employment or entrepreneurship.
Ensure Food Security and Agricultural Development
Women and rural entrepreneurs are especially empowered to start and grow income-generating activities. Additionally, we promote small-scale agricultural initiatives such as cassava, pepper, and corn farming to increase food security and income.
Expand Access to Healthcare
Access to healthcare and social support is another pillar of our poverty-reduction strategy. We provide referrals for affordable healthcare services, support community hygiene programs, and offer emergency aid to families in crisis to reduce their financial vulnerability.
Empower Women and Girls
We believe that empowering women and girls is one of the most powerful ways to break the cycle of poverty and drive sustainable development. When women are educated, skilled, and economically empowered, entire families and communities thrive. That’s why we are committed to creating opportunities for women and girls through access to education, vocational training.
Improve Infrastructure and Basic Services
At Heart of Home Foundation, we believe that improving infrastructural development is a core part of our mission to uplift vulnerable families and children. We are committed to building and rebuilding schools to ensure that children learn in safe, dignified environments that inspire growth and opportunity. We construct and rehabilitate water wells to provide communities with reliable access to clean, safe drinking water that reduces waterborne diseases and improving overall health.
